I’m Kate and I’m so happy you are here! I have been designing spaces ever since I can remember. While my friends were busy playing dolls, I was rearranging couch pillows and discussing wall colors with their mothers. At 12, my parents came home to find the bathroom completely repainted with new accessories (purchased with my babysitting money). It was classy… seriously! At 14, I created a haunted house in my parent’s unfinished basement. (Bless their souls for putting up with my design antics.) It was legit and I generated $200 in revenue while only charging $0.50 per person. At 16, I decided to take the leap and design a wedding for a family friend. It was a huge success and at that moment I knew, “This is what I was born to do.”  

At age 24, I began hosting weekly design segments for a local television show. That gig lasted several years and brought with it amazing opportunities to design some fantastic spaces! Then I landed the “dream job” as the "Selections Coordinator” for a luxury, high-rise condo project in a great big city. I handled ALL the interior design and worked myself to the bone to keep up.  I had crash courses with teams of architects, designed a million-dollar design center, and learned all the fancy construction terms. I knew every square inch of all 200+ condos, right down to the color numbers on the walls. Let me just say, sticky notes are a girl’s best friend!  It really was a dream job and an incredible experience (mostly because I met my hunky husband.)

These days I’m a full time mom to two BUSY boys! I love to kick back and relax on summer days and watch my boys grow up in our classic, white rambler, amongst the privacy of a couple green acres with hundreds of boxwoods (my fave)!  It’s the best, and where my most cherished memories are made.

But…. my passion for design still lingers. Styling a space runs in my DNA.  In my spare time, I find myself designing my girlfriends’ houses one room at a time. So, after turning 40 and some solid soul searching, I decided to start this little side hustle, “Kate’s Couch.”

I’m so excited to set aside time each month to meet you and work on creating a space that makes your heart skip a beat…and mine too!
